 Friends of Minnesota Men's Crew — Minnesota Men's Crew Annual Reunion

Friends of Minnesota Men’s Crew would like to formally invite you to the 2026 annual reunion. At this reunion we are announcing the 2026 Minnesota Men's Crew Hall of Fame inductee - the 1980 Varsity Four.  This crew won the Dad Vail championship for the first time in Minnesota history and started a run of 16 championships over 22 years, including the lightweight four that also won that year.  1980 was a foundational year for Minnesota, laying the groundwork and expectations of success for the rest of our history.

Summer Rowing

          One way that Minnesota can groom walk-ons to become top collegiate oarsmen is by making use of the summer.  Minneapolis Rowing Club's "Under 30" program combines college students with younger MRC adults to form a team that practices four times a week.  While the 5:30 am start time can be a challenge, it allows the guys to row and work a job or internship.  This year, 21 UMN rowers and coxswains (plus two of the three UMN coaches) are in the program.  The U guys are performing well against their teammates from other universities.  The team's ultimate goal is to win at the NWIRAs, a championship race in Canada where they can race multiple events (pair, four, eight, sculling and a 400 m dash).  They can get a year's worth of racing in one weekend!  Local Minnesota Boat Club and Cimarron Rowing Club are mounting challenges to us this summer, and the U30 team is excited.

     Junior Dylan Henrikson was invited to US Rowing Under 23 Development Camp to compete at the World University Games in Ontario in August.  Many thanks to the alumni and friends who donated to his fundraising campaign back in May.  He is performing very well against other top oarsmen from the ACRA league, winning his 'pair matrix'.  See picture, Dylan in bow.
