Help Make Us Stronger
The team does a variety of fundraisers and pays dues every season to fund the majority of the overall budget. We rely on the Friends, parents and other donors to provide equipment and travel opportunities that keep us competitive with the other top club teams in the country. Recent donations have provided a new eight and buses to races. For the 2025-26 season, we are raising money to purchase a new four and travel to race in Washington, DC.
The Friends of Minnesota Crew also provide nutrition for the team when they travel to races. Feeding 60 hungry men and women on the road is not easy, but the parents do an outstanding job of providing warm food at cold regattas and snacks for the long travel home. Make a donation below to support the cause.

Help Build Lasting Stability
Annual fundraising is unpredictable. An endowment ensures stable, reliable income every year, no matter what’s happening in the economy or donor cycles. It takes the pressure off always starting from zero. Annual gifts are spent; endowments last forever.
Rowing is an expensive sport, and students already pay dues around $2,000 per year on top of rising tuition. An endowment ensures growth expands opportunity, not student dues. By capping what students pay, Crew can recruit more broadly, retain athletes, and field a deeper, more competitive team.
By 2030, the interest income from a $500,000 endowment could finance a new 8+ racing shell every two years!

Rent-A-Rower
Minnesota Crew uses fundraising events such as "Rent a Rowers" to support the sport of rowing and its athletes at the University of Minnesota. Moving, gardening/weeding, landscaping, mowing, raking, and shoveling are the most common requests we receive. Our services are offered in exchange for a tax-deductible donation of $20/hour/rower. For inquiries about this fundraising venture, please contact our Fundraising Coordinator - Vince Votruba at umcrew@umn.edu.
