The Minnesota Development Camp attends Minneapolis Sprints Regatta to race local rowing clubs in an army of fours, pairs, singles, and quads. Facing their neighbors on the Mississippi, the camp athletes threw down solid races in each event, primarily earning gold, silver, and bronze finishes.
The first event, the Men's Open 4+, ended with a tight finish between Minnesota Men's Development Camp (MMDC), Minnesota Boat Club (MBC), and another MMDC boat, capturing times of 3:59, 4:04. and 4:08.
Lucas Bellows won his heat in the Men's Open 1x with a final time of 4:52, followed by 612 Endurance and MBC, also known as St. Paul. Connor Lund also won his heat in another Men's Open 1x event.
After the lunch break, the Men's Open 2- concluded a barn burner as four pairs finished within one second of the next finisher. MBC took first, followed by Alex Martin and Connor Lund, and bronze going to Seth Liabraaten and Doug McCunne-Zierath.
A few less experienced scullers entered the Rec Men's 1x to test their speed, including Ian Gordon, Jacob Bierman, and Andy Schmidtz.
Minnesota Dev Camp concluded the day with an impromptu 4x race, entering two boats into two separate heats, finishing second behind St. Paul, and third behind St. Paul and Minneapolis Rowing Club (MRC).
